4MO and no progress on night wakings
« on: November 26, 2010, 10:46:44 am »
My little one is 18weeks old and is still waking at 2a.m and then again a couple of times before 7a.m. He isn't being fed at these times.

He sleeps for about half an hour to 45mins in the morning and then 2hours to 2hrs 15mins at lunch and if he looks tired about 15mins between 4pm and 5pm. He has a bedtime routine (feed, bath, feed, bed) which he seems happy with and settles well at 7pm. At one point he would sleep from 7pm to 2a.m have a feed and then sleep again til til 6a.m. However, he then started waking at midnight so we re-introduced the 10pm feed - he is currently normally only taking about 4oz at this feed. He was mainly breastfed until recently but now gets a bottle at 11a.m and 2pm and he takes 8oz on a good feed but sometimes only 5oz at lunch. He's very sicky but his weight gain is good. Having re-introduced the 10pm feed we don't feed again til 7a.m but this hasn't stopped the night wakings though he doesn't cry much when he wakes he will sometimes be awake for 2hours and then sleep badly until 7a.m. We've stopped using the dummy for daytime naps and he is settling well for them without it though he currently wakes every 40mins at lunch he re-settles himself within 10mins with a little crying. He has a grab toy which he goes to bed with.

Help - what can we do to encourage him to sleep more at night?!
