Eating for 13 month old seems to be changing
« on: November 30, 2010, 02:37:19 am »
My DD is 13 months old and has been a great eater until recently. I think part of it may be related to just getting older--but it's a bit worrying (possibly unecessarily..)
She has 5-6 oz of milk in the morning and even 1 hour later it is a struggle to get her to eat more than a 1/4 piece of toast, oa few grapes or even baby cereal (12 month kind) she just won't eat!
Sometimes lunch will be bigger, and dinner will be either good or bad--maybe depending on what we are having.
Is this normal at this age ( I forget)....

We switched DD's morning milk to after breakfast for exactly this reason! She had been happily having 6oz bottle then solids about an hour after but as soon as she hit 1 she started refusing solids so we started doing breakfast (cereal) first then a sippy of milk a bit later with some toast.

HTH!

I have the same problem with one of my girls. When she sits on highchair, she starts to rub her eyes and faces. Refuses anything except diced mozzarella ( she lovesss cheese). I am thinking to offer milk after breakfast. Lunch and dinner are same; sometimes good sometimes bad. She is also 13 months old, and until now she was a great eater.

I think it is age related, my son wasn't much for breakfast, the milk filled him up and he wouldn't hardly eat in the morning but seemed like he ate nonstop in the evening.  I do think this is also when babies start to have those days where they pick and other days where they make up for it by eating everything.  And, don't forget teething!
