HELP New to Easy & confused!
« on: December 15, 2010, 16:20:44 pm »
My almost 3 month old daughter has pretty much been on a little routine since she was 3 weeks old...pretty predictable. Recently things went haywire when she would only be rocked to sleep and would no longer fall asleep in car or shopping cart or well anywhere but my arms. Decided to start easy and we have overcome the OT issues and she is FINALLY napping during the day in her crib YAY!!

Q1: Our day doesnt start until anywhere from 8-945. My hubby works late so I am up late in return I don't want to get up early and I cannot usually get her in bed for the night until about 9. So our easy looks a bit like this. How does it look?

E - 9am
A - 9-10
S - 10-12

E - 12
A - 12-1
S - 2

E - 3
A - 3-4
S - 4-6

E - 6
A - 6-7
S - 7-830 1.5  ***Is 1.5 hour catnap ok????

bedtime routine
830 ish - bath
845 - nurse
9ish - bed

We start wind down in her room about 10 min before naps/bedtime. She usually will STTN from 9ish to 330am or some nights she sleeps straight to 630 then I do a feed. Any idea why she does this some nights & not the others. Our bedtime routine is still out of sorts cause I cannot figure out this catnap thing. Any tips?

hey sweetie,
 Just bumping you :)

In the meantime, have you looked at these sample routines?

hey again :)

Glad you found this website and started EASY with your baby. Do you have any of Tracy's books?

Just an overview of your routine, I think she's not getting enough A time and perhaps too much daysleep. Yes, she needs 3 naps and a catnap...naps can vary from 1.5 hours to 2 hours but a catnap is such a short nap to have them last until bedtime. It's not meant to be restorative...and 1.5 hours with a 30 minute A time is quite little. It is okay, however, with a 30 minute nap though. That may be causing some wake ups at night...

For a 3 month old, it isn't uncommon for them to be able to do 1 hour 20 to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

HTH?
