Hi Ladies,
So, a bit of background - I'm preg. and BF'ing and my supply has dropped quite a bit over the last 6 months. I am still able to provide some milk for DS, but not enough for his requirements. My dear SIL has been pumping extra BM for him, and I also have a friend of a friend who has graciously become a milk donor for us - so he is still able to get BM. Unfortunately it's still not enough for him to be exclusively on BM, and I have to supplement at least one bottle a day with Organic Formula.
Now that DS is getting older, I'm wondering this: Would it be possible to introduce Homogenized Cows or Goats milk instead of the FF? I still want DS to get as much BM as possible, but I'm REALLY not a fan of FF - and am only supplementing with FF out of necessity.
DS is 9.5 months - takes 3 bottles a day (approx 7oz each bottle, 2 BM, 1 FF) eats from all the food groups and has been fine with cheese and yogurt... He eats plenty of fish, eggs, avocados ect. for healthy fats and I make all my own baby food, so I'm pretty confident his nutrients would be covered.
What are your thoughts?? I'm pretty sure my Dr. would say no milk until 12 months, just to stick with the recommended guideline. But I've read that some mom's have started their little ones on cows/goats milk as young as 7 months? Thanks!
