EW - think i may have created a bad habit!
« on: December 28, 2010, 05:13:45 am »
DD was STTN since she was 10 weeks old - however she is going through her 4 month GS and is now waking for a NF - But she is also waking several times a night - Last night I was able to resettle her about 4 times, I fed her one time and then at 5.30am I lifted her and took her into the bed - I think she is waking all the other times in the night cause she wants to be in my arms in my bed.......a habit I feel I have created!!!
What else can I do to stop this? our EASY yesterday went (I moved her to 3.5 EASY yest)
Wake 7am
Sleep 8.30am
Wake 9.45am
Eat 10.30am
Sleep 11.40am
Wake 2pm ( I had to wake her)
Eat 2pm
Sleep 3.45pm
Wake 4.30pm (we were out in the park and she was in the sling)
Eat 5.30pm
Sleep 6.30pm (couldn't get her to catnap earlier, too much going on with DS!!)
Wake 7pm
Bath 7.30pm
Eat 7.45pm
in bed for the night 8pm
Woke at 1.30am - re settled her about 4/5 times (she wasn't hungry)
2.30am (fed her)
5.30am (tried to resettle several times, no luck)
Lifted her and as soon as she was in my arms in bed she was fast asleep!)
Woke her for the day at 7am

Does my EASY need tweeking?? or is it that she wants to be in my bed?

Hi there, I don't think it's because of her wanting to be in your bed.  They don't have object permanence at her age so she can't actually visualize you being out there in your bed and wanting to be with you.  When you aren't near her, you don't exist to her.  In a couple of months that will change :-)

However, if you help her to get to sleep with AP then that can become a prop and she will not be able to get herself back to sleep without it and that may cause her to cry for that prop.  All she knows is she's awake, doesn't want to be and wahhhhh!

Have you read about shush/pat in Tracy's books?  Is your LO still swaddled and what are her room conditions like?  Does she take a paci?  If you know for sure she's not hungry, given her GS, then I would suggest starting with shush/pat to resettle her...then she'll learn to get herself back to sleep in the night.

4 mths is when the world starts to really stimulate them.  How does she go down for her naps?  Her first nap looks a tad UT and I wonder if maybe she's ready to increase that AM A time towards a 4 hr EASY?

The tweaking never stops!

I thought yesterday that her first A time might be too short - so today I am going to lengthen it!
She takes a paci - is in my room with white noise and black out blinds - Shush pat doesn't work but the bum push does. Have tried this during the night but it doesn't seem to work - so I think I might wait for a few weeks and do pu/pd that worked for my DS to get him to resettle himself!
