some smoothie on his fingers so he can taste it and know what's in the cup?  Sometimes I do this - kind of gently persuade Austin to try something new when he thinks he's not into it and then he's all about it!)

lol! I do that too. Well I do it on her bottom lip (like I smear yogurt that I KNOW she'll like but she's shaking her head no and balking at it). She's sometimes particular about her fingers getting dirty and will point her finger at me if there's a crumb stuck on it to take it off rather than just lick her finger. ::)

LOL Kate and Sarah, I SO wish something like that would work. But DS won't let me NEAR him with food unless it's soup, applesauce or yogurt and only those when he's in the mood. Otherwise he has to do it himself (with his hands as he's been refusing the fork lately). And if I dribble smoothie or anything on his hands he'd just cry...

Anyway, he only slept 1.5 hours for his nap (not bad but was hoping for more since sick) and tried the smoothie after but didn't like it (funny enough DD said it didn't taste good either) so drank plain diluted apple juice instead. Sigh. Maybe just avocado, banana, honey and apple juice? Skip the tofu or yogurt? Though I really want some protein in there...

Kate - I'm sure he won't starve - and I'm really not a food pusher when sick - just as long as they are hydrated (which he totally is). It's more just that this was starting even before he got sick and I'm not good with the picky eating thing - it's really my pet peeve...

What about giving it to him in a bowl with a spoon like yogurt?  DS eats his that way and loves them.
