Can't figure out why the night wakings...10 months?
« on: January 06, 2011, 06:35:49 am »
Hello and Happy New Year!

Our little guy is already 10 months.  I have not posted in some time on this site...which is a good thing! :)
A brief history of our current situation:
He is 10 months
Teething
Breast feeding 4 x a day
3 solid food meals
Drinks water from a sippy cup
Will not accept breast milk or milk from a bottle or sippy cup
Crawling and furniture walking

7am/7:30am wake up breast feed
8am breakfast (ie. oatmeal with applesauce)
10am breast feed/nap 1 (keep it to 1 hour)
11:15am wake up
12pm lunch (ie. bowl of pureed veggies, fruits, rice and turkey)
2pm breast feed/nap 2 (keep it to 2 hours)
4:15pm  wake up
5pm snack (ie. cup of yogurt)
6pm dinner (ie. same as lunch)
7pm bath (not every night), pjs, book
7:30pm breast feed, bedtime
6am breast feed...back to sleep

**Night wakings are 2 or 3 times/night.  Sometimes chatting and back to sleep...most of the time it is whining for a bit and then back to sleep.  Problem is it is very disturbed sleep.

I'm hoping someone has some insight into what is going on here?  I'm hoping I am covering all his needs???

Tbh, if he is putting himself back to sleep then you're doing great! We all wake up at night for various reasons, sometimes without even realizing it :) its the fact that he can go back to sleep on his own without needing you or another prop that we're striving for! Your days look fantastic!

Agreed! It's normal to wake during the night - the issue is teaching a LO to go back to sleep without you, and that's what he's doing :)

Thank you both so much for the reassurance!  I guess I'm doing better than I thought.  The 5:30am feed must be okay for this age. He definitely puts himself back to sleep even if it takes some time with a bit of tears he does it!!

Sincerely
Natasha
