Honestly Mukta, in my opinion this isn't something that mama has to manage. If you cut down on the night feedings, he'll up his daytime calories all by himself. I spent MONTHS trying to get Stan to feed more so that he would sleep better at night - in fact, for us the two things weren't related, and the only way he would feed more in the day was by my taking the initiative and cutting out the night feeds.

Is he settling himself to sleep? If so I sorta agree with Anna, maybe you could pick one of the NF and work on it and still feed all the others.
What do you think?

Hmm, it's not easy getting them to eat more than they want to is it? :P I've had similar thoughts myself as S is a tiny little girl. When you say he is skinny does that mean he's low weight for height? Is he gaining ok?

I think the main thing to remember here (as A is under a year) is that milk should be the main part of his diet, and when we want to increase intake at this age, it should ideally be the milk intake we increase. 2 nightfeeds at this age isn't unusual really and even if it means he might not take too much solids, it does ensure he gets plenty of milk which is good for him. Not always so attractive to mommy though, I know ;) ...do you do a DF or does he wake for a feed after 4 hrs? Maybe you could post his routine so we can have a look too? Also you could increase the calories of the solids you do give (rather than increase volume which takes away from the milk intake) by adding some oil or butter to his food and give more calorie dense solids like avocados for example. Unfortunately more food doesn't necessarily mean better sleep though :-\ I totally hear you on being ready for him to sleep better.. Sienna isn't STTN either. As Anna says there's the option too of working on nightweaning him (personally I've not had the energy or motivation for that, and I don't want any crying in the night to wake L :P)

There's some info here that might be helpful: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/weaning/weaning-night.html

Does he take full milk feeds every 4 hrs? Or are the night feeds shortish ones?

Just saw Tay's post now :)

That does sound like a good idea.
The other option is to try to reduce the length of feed by 1 min at a time, or even just offer one side (but I know some babies will just not have any of that)

I would go with the bottle then and see how it works.
