Growing up milk or cow's milk?
« on: January 08, 2011, 20:31:01 pm »
Hi there,

My DS is 1 year old on the 22nd of January and I'm wondering if it will be best for him to have cow's milk or 'Growing up' formula. I know he isn't allergic to cow's milk as I've been mixing his porridge with a little for a few weeks now. I was thinking of combining the two so he gets the nutritional value of both. Any experience/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Vicki.x.

I personally think growing up milk is a ploy. Its not really required if you are feeding bub a good, nutritional diet with plenty of iron via solids. I'd go with cows milk.

I agree with Emma! Formula companies can't advertise or offer incentives on first baby milk but they can on anything for babies over 6 months - so we have follow on milk, goodnight milk and toddler milks ;).

If he has had no reaction to cow's milk in food he should be fine. He may not like the taste at first so you can transition by switching an oz at a time so he adjusts to the taste.

Thank you ladies, I have done some extra research and your opinions seem to be the general concensus, so I will go with the cows milk and save some pennies along the way :)
