Is Feeding to sleep only at night okay?
« on: January 10, 2011, 17:56:55 pm »
One week ago I started pupd with my LO who previously would only go to sleep with bouncing, and didn't sleep well b/c of bad reflux.  Now that we finally have her on the right meds, I am attempting to fix all my accidental parenting!  PUPD had gone okay for the most part (we have had a few rough days to say the least), but now that naps are getting a lot better I would like to focus on her night wakings.

She has never been allowed to feed to sleep during the day, but she always falls asleep when she wakes at night to eat (and she still wakes 1-2 times a night to eat because I have trouble getting enough calories in her in the day, but thats another issue).  She always falls asleep while breastfeeding.  But when she is done eating and I move her to her crib, she wakes up and then falls asleep on her own a few minutes later.

Is this okay to do, or is this still reinforcing a  "waking up at night just to eat so I can get back to sleep" habit?

At this age, I think it's fine. :)  I'd just make sure there's at least 3-4 hours b/t night feeds.  If it's less than that, resettle without feeding so she also gets used to being resettled different ways at night.
