We're still doing long am nap/short pm nap generally although today was 2 x 1h 10min naps and that worked quite well as well.
Karen what do you usually do then?

Cutting to 20mins might have been to much too soon. He was doing more like 35-40mins before so maybe I should try 30mins and let him sleep till 1110 if necessary before cutting to 20mins.

Today he had 2hrs40 A time (meant to do a bit less but didn't happen) after a 20min nap and then has just had 1hr20min nap which I would say was OT.

Yesterday he had
Nap 30min
A time 2hrs 40mins
Nap 2hrs

So I might try yesterday's plan again tomorrow.

Right ladies I need a bit of help with a tweak!

Currently:
5.30 Awake
10 S for 1hr
2.30 S for 50 mins
7.30 S

We get 1 or 2 NW. I think DD needs a longer PM nap really but I have school run so can't do it.

I've two options:
Shorten AM nap to 30mins so ready for PM nap earlier, so it lengthens. Keep this going for as long as poss!
OR
Start transitioning to one nap, with Half Term coming up it could work like this:
Days 1-3 10.15-11.15 and 2.30-3.20
Days 4-6 10.45-11.30 and 3.30-4.15
Days 7-9 11.15-12 and 3.30-4.15
Days 10 -12 11.45-12.15 and 3.45-4.30
Days 13-15 12.15 one nap
Days 16+ 12.45 one nap

If the one nap days are short, squeeze a CN in.

Anyone want to throw in their thoughts?

Jenny this is what we were doing up until Sunday which was working well.

615am - Wake up
10am-12pm - Nap
330-430pm - Nap
730pm - Bed

So he was getting less night sleep and catching up a bit in day.  Yesterday I woke him up at 715am and we had the two 1h 10min naps and 730pm bed.  Today's going to have to be a one nap day again.

Nic - How old is she now?  If you think she'll be able to handle the one nap now then I'd say go for it but if she can't then keep cutting morning nap back so you can fit in longer pm nap before you have to get her up for school run.  What time do you have to leave to get ds?

So we had a 530am wake up and I fed him after a bit and he went back to sleep (becoming a habit this isn't it)!  I went in to wake him up at 715am again but he was so fast asleep I just didn't have the heart to do it!  I also then remember that today's one of those days that he's going to have a one nap day anyway as the kids have got swimming straight after I pick Amy up from school and we don't get home till after 430pm so won't be able to offer him a second nap.  It's the first time I've had to take him as dh won't be home so can't really complain.  So he woke up at 8am.  Nap will be about 1230pm after I pick Ethan up from preschool and hopefully it'll be longer than an hour this time!

sorry spodnic I am not very good with routines, I am an avid tired sign watcher!

So last night we had a horrid 1.5 hour NW, I think a tooth is going to pop in the next week or so, we can see it bulging but not cutting yet.
8:30am wake up   - so went to the beach  with the boys since I knew he would make one nap... yay!
12:45pm  - 3:30pm - nap (longest one yet!)
7:30pm  bed but the critter would not settle until 8:45pm... geez! We  think it was the teeth again.. he was fighting sleep like the ens, prob a bit of OT thrown in the mix... and also it is soo hot in our house we are having a HEAT wave, the kids rooms celing fans are on HIGH and they are sleeping with just a nappy and no sheets on  ::)

Hi Karen

She is 14.5 months. We leave at 3.20pm and not a hope of getting her to the car still asleep. I wish I could feed back to sleep in those EWs! She's up for the day, that's it. I did experiment with some APOP in those EWs, no good either. You said earlier in the thread to maybe keep cutting the am nap, I'm liking the sound of that too, since I'd still get my afternoon me time.

I don't think she can make it on one nap, not til we get the EWs sorted.

How about:

Nap 1 - 10am - 1030am
Nap 2 - 130/145pm - 3/315pm

Yeah you can keep cutting morning nap to keep the afternoon nap longer and at the time you want it.  Also keeping the am nap short may help with ew.

Eloys - Yay to the nice long nap!

Our one nap day was 1225pm-245pm so happy with that.  Have put him back to bed at 615pm but don't think he's asleep yet.  Imagine they'll be some early hours feeding going on again  ;)

am i asking for trouble???

Jakob had a freak incident in which he cried for 2 hrs from 10pm and then slept till 7 the next morning, since then hes had 1 1hr-1.30hr  nap and ready for bed at 7pm for 3 days, tonight he was ready at 6.30, he was down for 6.45 and fell asleep with a few sshhhs.

im really concerned the tiny nap hes had midday is going to steadily turn into OT, however hes always been an 12-13 hr sleep altogether  type baby.... could use ur comments xxxx

That's what's happened to us but then OT catches up so be careful!

So we had a 620pm to 715am night sleep with no wake ups at all  ;D  Nap 1 today was 1045am-12noon (I woke him as had to get Ethan from preschool) and will aim for a second nap of 330-430pm.  If I had days/nights like yesterday though I'd go for the one nap every day!

Wow!  I have missed a lot!  Sounds like some progress for some and not so much for others.

I been finding that my LO hasn't done EW's when I give him long AM after 4.25A time (1.5 S) and short pm after 4.5ish A time (30-40S) Oddly the later nap had helped his EW's.  I don't let him sleep past about 4 pm and bed at 7pm.  I guess he needs about 3.5A time before bed.

Anyone know why this helps?

We are one nap days now, they are going prefect( I have to wake her up at the 2.5 mark now, today i am letting her sleep the 3 hrs though). NO more crying before nap and bt! Found the right a time FINALLY: 5/2.5/5.15
Now of course the nights are not going good since naps have started going good ::).
I have been doing 7:45-8 pm BT but she is slowly waking up early everyday only slept 10 hrs last night, with 2-4 nw. So I am putting her to bed at 7pm tonight and I hope she sleeps till 7am.
I wish I could just have a good nap AND a sttn with no ew (I can hope right?)
Any suggestions?

Lulu - That's fine if it works.  All lo's are different and some need to have shorter am nap to avoid the ew.  We have long am nap and don't generally have ew.

Lily - That might be OT accumulating if she's now waking up at night.  I know if Lewis wakes in the night it's due to OT.

So the first nap of the day ended up being the only nap of the day!  I blame dh though as he was left in charge of pm nap while I was out with the other two and didn't bother APOP nap when he wasn't going to sleep.  He got him up and they watched Top Gear together  ::)  Bed at 6pm so hoping for another 13 hour night  ;)  Hey, it is his birthday in the morning and everyone should get a lay in on their birthday, right?!

Just going to follow along here. We are currently capping the morning nap at 45 minutes to an hour.

well I have been trying for two naps very hard, but ever since Kai took a one nap day last week  everyday has been one nap since!   He is pretty OT, and fights the cat nap alot, and is only ready for it at 5pm  :-\    He is wakign a few times after going down for the night... ugh.  Today he did a 50 min nap, 12-12:50 he must have caught Olly's bug!
