Sherry- thanks for your help with this.
So I will try with pushing out at AM nap as late as possible (longer AM nap definitely works best for us), then try the PM catnap either in the pram on the school run, or once we are back around 3.45pm (do you think this will affect his bed time? Will he still go to sleep at 7pm if his nap is this late?).
If I do the longer AM nap then- shall I let him sleep as long as he likes for this one?
Thanks!
Jx

Poor Lewis! Hope he's on the mend very soon!!

FX for Olly Claire... it never ceases to amaze me that LO's sleep in nurseries but somehow they do!

Jodie, if you still aiming for 2 naps then I would cap the first nap otherwise you won't have enough time for second nap. I think you let them sleep as long as they want on a 1 nap day. Once you push that first A time out and you LO is happy with the longer a time you might want to give the 1 nap day a go and go for an earlier BT too?

Claire - Good luck with Olly today and let us know how he gets on.  Yeah, Lewis has woken early occasionally (but usually goes back to sleep with a feed) but never for a long period in the night before.  I think we just need a bit of tweeking to get him back on track!

So, has anyone got a routine they can recommend for my 11.5 month old?  We have to work around school runs and we do have some after school clubs but I'll leave them out of it for now as they can usually be worked around with a bit of help.  The morning school run shouldn't effect things as I'm back by 930am and he never goes down before that.  So the next school run I drive to so I'm out between 1205pm-1220pm.  The last one I leave no later than 3pm and am back by about 335pm and I walk that one.

The hours I can be in then are 930am-1205pm, 1225pm-3pm and 335pm onwards.  Any recommendations of a routine around that???

Hiya

Ty has been in nursery yesterday and is in today, yesterday as he got up at 5.30am  :-\ They gave him a 20 min nap at 9.35, then he had a long nap for 1.45 in the afternoon.  He then went out like a light (medicated due to 6 teeth on the way through) and woke at 3.50 which is a long time for him, I gave him a bottle and then he went back down until 6.30.

So, tomorrow he's home with me.  Normally he wakes at 7, but then he isn't ready for a sleep until 10.30-11 (ish) that means his long nap would be late at 2.30-3.  Is this too late for a long one ?  He did seem to sleep better last night but not sure if he was just knackered from nursery.

Well, "normally" around 7am.  If he's had a feed at 530 though he'll tend to sleep longer but I may need to start waking him up if I want to do a proper routine.  He will sleep long in the am but then I've been getting some pm nap refusal.  I personally think short am/long pm nap works much better but not sure if I'm going to do this around the 3pm school run?

It is that 3-3.35pm time that is the tricky one isn't it. You would have to fit in the long nap before then otherwise BT would be mega late.

It would work great for us as have to go out in the buggy with Olly for his pm nap anyway!

I think you would have to go for long am nap. Something like this

WU 7am
3.5 Hr A time
Nap 1 - 10.30 - 12
3 Hr A time
Nap 2 - 3-3.30
BT 6.30-7ish

Or shorten first A and lengthen 2nd - what suits Lewis better.

HTH??

Actually... just written it out and this might work?

WU 7am
3 Hr A time
Nap 1 - 10 - 10.30
3 Hr A time
Nap 1.30 - 3
BT 6.30-7ish

Those A times are short but Lewis would be OK with that right??

He won't go down after 3h A time after a long nap anymore but might do after a 30 min nap so the second option would be the one most likely to work, thanks.  He will sleep in buggy/car seat but he's got to be tired enough and I've got to be walking properly as the dawdling I tend to do with the other two walking/scooting doesn't seem to cut it!

Claire - That's actually what we're going to be doing today.  He was asleep about 10am and I had to wake him at 1025am for his appointment.  Put him back down at 130pm but he's still chatting away at 342pm.  Will have to wake him by 3pm regardless to get Amy if dh isn't home from work by then.

OMG you guys, Emory just woke from a 6 minutes AM nap. Totally OT for sure. I had to run to the store, I still had him in bed on time but he woke early this morning and was up for 2 hours in the middle of the night.

I'll have to catch up later.

Hugs Sherry.  I'm hoping a new routine will get things back on track here!

Claire - He was asleep by 345pm so not too bad.  Will let you know how the rest of the day/night goes  :-*
