Help me get started please
« on: January 14, 2011, 20:52:02 pm »
I have read the FAQ bit and the examples of a routine.  I have a 5 week old who is FF.  He can go anytime between 2-4 hours for a feed and will take between 2-3 ozs.

I want to start on EASY but how do I start, I feel as if I should have done it from day 1 if you get me.  Do I just wake up tomorrow morning at 7am and go from there?

Sorry if this has been asked before I had a quick scan but couldnt find anything.

Oh and Hi I am Sam, mum to a 4 year old and a 5 week old xxx

Hi Sam!
 Welcome to BW :)

Do you have any of Tracy Hogg's books? I found it to be an invaluable source of information to refer to when I had a question.

I know you've looked at the FAQs and routines, did you see this one?

At 5 weeks, it's pretty much routinal..they basically only sleep, eat, a small amount of activity and go back to sleep. Their feeds should be no more than 3 hours apart as they need the bulk of their calories during the day and do longer stretches of sleep at night.

He doesn't have to wake at 7..mine wakes at 7:30 give or take 15-20 minutes. If your day starts around 8am, you can do an 8-8 sort of day.

They get three long naps, and one short nap from 1-3 months.

Their A times are small, 1 hour or so and most of it is spent feeding..

Here's a link about having a good wind down:

I hope that gives you a bit more direction? If you have any other questions, let me know :)

Thank you for your reply. I will look at the links you provided.  I did have a look at the site but must have missed that whole thread  ::)

I did lend a copy of one of Tracey's books from the library whilst pregnant but think I need to purchase one now to keep referring back to.

Hello,
Tracy Hoggs' you mean? The first one I bought was The Baby Whisperer - calm sooth...I forget the entire title. But it's a slimmer book that's a little bigger than a paperback.

The second book which was much detailed, for me and my issues, was the Baby Whisperer Solves All your Problems. It's a bigger, thicker book - the size of a mini laptop.

Here we go:
It's a link for the first book I mentioned, and if you scroll down, the second book is listed under what others recommend..
