Remind me again!

Please feel free to move this if this is not in the right place.
We are beginning solids tomorrow with my 5month old daughter as she is drinking 45ozs of formula.  She is on a 3.5hour EASY and her A time is around 2hrs and 15min. She is on the higher side of A times and b/c of this I am confused on how to fit in her feeds.  I think we are going to try an extra 10min of A time tomorrow as she is giving us 45min naps. Sigh.  Anyhow, her milk feeds are at 7:30am, 11am, 2:30pm, 5:30pm, top up at 7pm.  She still has two NFs, which we will be working on once solids are fully established.  I plan to begin with one solid first thing in the morning but what happens to her EASY now that her A time is about 2.5hrs.  I would love for her to nap 1.5hours-2hours but I am afraid she will wake up hungry b/c she eats every 3.5hours. Do I do a top up feed before naps?

Hi Sabrina,

My experience with DD taught me that eating schedules vary greatly depending on which country you are from. I remember posting about her routine back in the day and it varied greatly from how other were doing things. But I'm doing it as is customary here in Belgium and feel it's accomodating Lo's needs and, to me very important, fits in with BW and EASY. That being said, I don't know if my experience is of any value to you as you're in Canada, but I'll share our current EASY with you anyhow :)
Silas started solids about 10 days ago, he was just so ready!
Here goes:

wake 06.30-7am
E 7am : 8oz formula
S 9am-10H45 : nap

E 11am : solids (veggies) + 6oz formula afterwards (straight after in his case since he is too hungry to leave a gap  :P)
S 1pm-2.30pm : nap

E 3pm : solids (fruit ) + 6oz formula afterwards
S 4.30pm-5.15pm : catnap

E 6pm : 8oz formula
S 7-7.30pm : down for the night.

Hope this helped somewhat!  :-*

Hey there Sabs, we usually kept the E as bf-ing and then around 45 mins later would do solids, I honestly sometimes did a top up feed before nap time just in case ;)

Let's see how things go tomorrow, and could you then post your overall EASY?

Sabs - some babies do need a pre nap top up - but since your LO is taking SO much formula I wouldn't do it unless she starts to bust her nap from hunger.

Hopefully her solids will increase and her A extend at similar rates so you don't need to.

Thanks ladies. I am not going to try the top up yet b/c I know she doesn't' need anymore formula. She is my little cow. LOL.  I just thought a top up would lead to snacking.

Liz, I love your picture. You look so beautiful with your hair colour. I love it.  :-*

She is my little cow.

Certainly not far off  ;) :P

I doubt you will have an issue - it tends to be the EBF babes with above average A times really.

Thanks for the compliment  :-*. It was taken at the airport before we went on holiday in December.
