Gosh, I have to cap it at 1.5 hrs, but its as though he sometimes needs a longer one here and there, I used to manage this fine but I'm finding it harder and harder to judge if/when he does and we then end up with OT!!

If the routine as it is now works (ie, the NWs and EWs stop) then it means, like yesterday, that he's not having much total sleep - 1.5 hour nap and a later BT at 7.30pm though not settling till 8pm and then awake at 6.30/6.45am (10.5 hours) - only 12 hours total.

Maybe he just does need less sleep.  Holly has always been on the high sleep needs scale, even as a baby. Before 4m old she barely was ever awake! and cried if she was awake for even shortest period of time and wanted to go back to sleep?  I guess every child is different.  DD1 never slept much ... think that was my fault though! ;)
