I am making beef and guiness casserole. Would it be ok to give to a one year old?

I think the alcohol burns off during cooking?  Someone else might have a better idea though.  I'd probably give it to him.  :)

I also think most of the alcohol burns off and it's more the flavor that remains. I think it is safe to give to LOs. Although, I've had some desserts that are made with rum and such and they really really taste alcoholy and I wonder how much has actually cooked off. Those I'd probably be more nervous about and avoid.

Wotcher mate (and Happy Birthday Olly-man)  ;D

Yes it will be fine to give. Desserts are a different thing entirely as the alcohol doesn't cook off.

Hope you're having a lovely day & see you Sat xxx

See you FRIDAY Kathrynm - we are going to see Jimmy Carr!

Well DH pointed out I used Groundnut oil which is peanuts apparently. With Olly's allergies won't risk giving it to him now  ::) Shall know for next time  :)

When cooking with beer or alcohol,

does all of the alcohol evaporate?

        15 minutes 40%
        30 minutes 35%
        1 hour 25%
        1.5 hours 20%
        2 hours 10%

I've also heard that when using alcohol in the slow cooker it's best to leave the top off and cook on high for the last hour to get as much alcohol as possible to cook out.

How did it come out? Did your LO like it? You can always come over to recipe swap and share the recipe (hint hint)!!

DH and I liked it! Didn't give it to Olly as I used groundnut oil. No recipe really. Just fried the beef, onion, celery and carrot, added corn flour put in pot. Bubbled guinness in the same pan, put in pot. Cooked  :)
