Going from 4 to 3 feeds
« on: January 20, 2011, 01:39:06 am »
DS is now 11 months, and I am wanting to go from 4 to 3 BF's.  We currently do one first thing in the AM, after each of his 2 naps, and right before bed time.  I am wanting to keep the AM and PM feed and do one mid day.  When is the best time, before or after lunch?  Or just when it is convienent?  He usually needs to wait a while to eat food after a good nursing session.  So I am concerned about his food intake during lunch decreasing if he nurses before lunch.  But I also don't want his nursing session to be cut short if he is full from lunch.  Maybe before his 2nd nap?  What do other people do?

When we went to 3 feeds Dylan was on one nap, so I don't know how helpful this is, but we did:
morning bf and breakfast
bottle ebm or bf before nap (I had returned to work at this point)
lunch after nap

and then as his nap got later we reversed it, so lunch before nap and bf after.

Since your lo is on 2 naps still, could you do bf after first nap (like a snack almost) and lunch before second nap (as you've been doing) and then just offer a solids snack after his second nap?
