Can't fill my 24 week old!!!
« on: January 25, 2011, 09:54:48 am »
On my HV advice I started weaning my lo at 21 weeks because he was literally draining bottles.
I started him on the usual pureed fruit and veg (he eats everything!!) but he still does not seem to be satisfied.
Any advice as i know he's under the 6 month mark?

Have you tried any cereals yet?  Maybe that might help fill him up a bit more.  There isn't much to fruits and veg so they're not very filling I'm afraid!  Also, is he drinking his max amount of milk already?  Or maybe he is going through a growth spurt right now.

Once he is 6mos then hopefully you can start to introduce some meats and then maybe the protein will help fill him up.

How big are his bottles now and how many does he have? Have you tried hungry baby formula?

Hi,
His milk E is as follows...
8am 230mls
11.30am 210mls
3pm 210mls
7pm 230mls extra hungry milk.

Also now down to one feed through the night now he's on solids. Here he usually drinks 180 but that has reduced from 260mls.

I didn't do the DF because as a baby he had bad reflux and it did nt agree with him.

I bought some porridge this morning so will have to try that.

He's six months in 2 weeks so am I ok to start him off on meats then????

He could be going through a growth spurt and that's why he's more hungry lately.  I would say you'd be fine to start meats at six months.  Recommendations tend to vary around the world but here it's ok to go ahead and start them.  :)

Thank you! He's always been a hungry baby- I shouldn't complain really!
Are any meats better to start them off on than others?

Chicken would probably the easiet to digest.  You could also try hard boiled egg yolks.  You'll want to stay away from egg whites, but you can try the yolks hard boiled or even scrambled, just cook them well.  :)
