« on: January 29, 2011, 13:34:00 pm »
Alyssa is on the verge of dropping her CN but she is not at the full three hours of A time. She is doing 2.5hours and I am finding that if she CNs longer then 20min, we have numerous Nws.

E 7:30am Solids 8:30am
A 7:10-9:45am
S 9:45-11:20am

A 11:20-1:55pm(not sure if she was OT as she gave me a 35min nap here)
S 1:55-2:30pm 2:30-3pm tried to settle Slept again from 3-3:30pm
E 4pm
A 3:30pm-5:55pm
S 5:55pm-6:20pm
E 7pm
A6:20pm-7:45pm She was in bed at 7:30pm and was wired She fell asleep at 8pm
Nw 11pm fed here
Nw 1am, 2am

hi there sabrina,

In looking at the routine, my guess would be OT.  Have you tried a slightly shorter 2nd A time by chance?  I would think that if she resettled again from 3-3:30 then perhaps she was OT for that nap.  Also, I think the A time after the broken-up 2nd nap could have been shorter - maybe between 2-2.5 hrs and then the catnap.  The A time after the catnap seemed quite long as well since she only did a 25 minute CN.

What do you think hun?

After her second broken nap, I did put her down earlier, but she refused to go to sleep. The same went for bedtime.  I could try a shorter A after her first nap tomorrow. She no longer shows me tired signs.  If she has a decent morning nap, should I aim for her to sleep by the 2.5hour mark? Does that explain the nws?

I can't say for sure, but I do know that 35 min naps for us were always OT and often I had a hard time ever extending these even though they were OT.

I would maybe stick to the 2.5 hr first A time (since you are getting a good nap off that) and shave 10-15 minutes off the 2nd A time (so maybe 2.25 A time or so) and see if she gives you a longer nap.

It might explain the NWs - there aren't any teeth in sight are there?

She is biting everything in site.  :P  I know she is on the higher side of A times.  Her first nap used to be 2hrs but now it is down to 1.5hours.  :-\  I will try to shave off 10min tomorrow and see what that gives me. This second nap is giving me such problems.
I will let you know!

This morning's nap was 1hr and 45min with a 2.5hour A. Then her second nap was 30min with the same A. Guess I should try 10min less.

wow, that's a great 1st nap :)  Maybe you could try for a little cut on the 2nd A and see what happens.  If nothing improves, we can play around with it a little bit.

Stay posted hun ;)

Having a moment right now.  >:(  This morning she napped for 45min and utterly refused to go back down. The moment I took her out of her nursery, she began to laugh.  ::)  A was 2.5hours. I think this is a sign of needing more A!

Ack!  That little stinker :)  Yes, more A time is what my gut says if you were unable to extend and she was making a game of it.  Hang in there - you're doing great!

Aw thanks.  She fought her second nap.   She is a little stinker.   Too much to do for her. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow.

So this morning, i pushed her A time to 2hrs and 40min and she slept one hour and 20min. Next A was 2.5hours and she slept for 40min.  Just put her down for a CN, which she fought. Ot here. Not sure if it is another reflux flare.  :'(

Hmm....that is interesting.  I would give the 2h40min A time a few days to see if her body adjusts.  Still, the 1h20min nap counts as a restorative one so that is good news :)

Do you know if your 40 min naps tend to be OT or UT?  Here they were generally UT and meant I had to push him.  But I've heard others say the opposite.  How was she upon waking after that one?  And what was the A time between the 2nd nap and CN?

Normally 40mins here mean UT.  :P  I lost track of time and her CN was a little struggle. She was OT as her A was 2.5hrs. Oops!!!
I will keep trying.

just jumping in here...my boy is about the same ages (5 months, 1 week) and give a good first nap, and stinky second nap.  after a stinky second nap I don't know what to do with the catnap and bedtime!!!  Whether or not to push the catnap forward and extend it, ugh.  good luck.  you are not alone!

hi there emily3434 -

have you tried posting a thread about your routine yet?  If not, then you may want to post on EASY so we can take a look and see if anything might need a tweak :)  Would be happy to help...
