Lost interest in solids
« on: February 02, 2011, 09:06:52 am »
Hi,
DS is now 6.5 month old and I've been giving him solids for the last 2.5 weeks.

At the begining he seemed eager to eat them (wait with his mouth open, getting upsset if the food didn't arrive on time) and now (last 3-4 days) he seems less intersted in them, hardly eating.

Few notes:
1. I breast feed him (only DF is formula)
2. When my mother was here 2 days ago he ate very well (she gave him his solids)
3. Today I tried to stop the breastfeeding before he finished so he would still be a bit hungry but this didn't help
4. I still BF before the solids. he won't have it the other way around. I plan to try again soon.

What can be the reason to this sudden lost of interest?

Thanks!
May.

At 6.5 months you really don't need to worry. At this stage, solids is just for experimenting, and the main thing is that he is still getting lots of milk. You could stop completely for a couple of days and then come back to it?

It's totally normal for babies to go through phases where they are not as interested.  The main things are that he is still getting all his milk, and that you are not pushing him to eat if he doesn't want to as that can cause future problems.  If he's not interested at the moment, I would give it a bit of a break and try again later.  :)

OK. Thanks.

He is still getting all his milk. I offer him solids and when he stops opening his mouth for it I just quit trying.
He was eating SO well I was hoping he will keep this going but whatever suits him, right?
