Anyone else out there with a lo at this age who is still on 2 naps a day (long ones too!). I can't see how my boy is going to be able to jump to a later nap at all..... Anyone else? Thanks.

my Ds1 (now 7.5yo) only went to one nap at around 21months & that was pretty much because I forced it as I wanted it to happen before DS2 was born (due when DS1 was 21.5mo). at 15mo he was still doing 2 full naps/day ie 1.5hours & 2hours... sometimes even 2.5hours for the second.

Wow! That is useful to know thanks, was starting to think something was amiss with my very busy little boy. Can I ask how your night sleeping was at that age? Thank you again.

Hi there!

My DD only went to 1 nap at around 15 mo. She was still having a long AM (up 1.5hrs) & short PM (45mins/1hr) nap + around 11hrs at night. Most LO's transition to 1 nap by around 18mths so I really wouldn't worry!

Is your LO high sleep needs? How long does he sleep at night?

Do you want to post your routine? Happy to take a look?

Night sleep wasn't all that great in that we had Night wakings, he was asleep by 8pm (we often only got home from work/daycare at 6.30/7pm) & awake about 6.30 (we needed to leave at 7.30am... yes long days). TBH my DS1 was a poor night sleeper, due to teething (bad teether) & also he had undiagnosed Asthma, it was only at around 3yo that we worked out that Asthma was an issue in his night wakings. As a baby/toddler he was hight sleep needs but now as a 7yo he is more average to low... my DS2 is definitely low sleep needs.

That looks like a good routine to me!

I would say that as long as his night-time sleep isn't being affected (i.e. getting shorter) then stick with it for now. If you do start getting nap/BT resistance &/or EW's then it's time to push A times out & cap one of the naps further!  :)

Thanks! Tbh not sure truly what time he wakes as he is such a good boy and lies there cuddling his blanket and sucking his thumb! But he is awake when we go to him at 7am. Often wondered if he was waking much much earlier and we didn't know hence the really long am nap. Hey ho, will leave it for now and on nursery days he hardly sleeps so much sleep to catch up on at weekends and mummy days. Thanks. Still interested to hear from others about their kiddies at this age.

Hi katet. Thanks for your info. Sounds like ur lo had a bit of a rocky start, bless him. Maybe those long daytime sleeps were making up for disturbed nights? As u may have seen my lo has a decent night sleep ontop of all the day sleep, hence my 'niggle' about it. Thanks for sharing your story. Lisa

Sorry siane, should have asked, how did the transition go for you, how quickly etc. I just can't imagine H giving up his 90min nap in the am!!!

My DD was the same.....loved her naps!

I partly had to move her to 1 nap as she moved rooms at nursery & they only did 1 nap (she definitley would have stuck with 2 naps for longer otherwise).

Basically, over a week or so I gradually pushed her AM nap by 15 mins or so every few days & then cut the PM nap back so that we didn't end up with a really late BT. Eventually her AM nap was at 11.30am/12pm & she slept for 2hrs. Also brought her BT earlier for a while until she adjusted!

Good luck!

Some children do sleep lots, I have a friend whose 6yo still naps on the weekend, because she is so tired from school, she gets up at 8am & goes to bed at 7.30pm week days & on weekends it is 8-8 + 1 hour nap.
