Didn't realise they weren't sttn.  Thought from your post they were sleeping 7pm-645am.  Maybe cut the first nap and bit more and see how you get on then with the second nap.

Jakob is doing 'ok'

wake 6am
nap 11am - between 12.30 / 1.30
bed 6.45 - 7.15

he previously went to sleep, sucking thump, holding bunnys ear after a shhh and a hand on back but has now begun rolling backwards and forwards banging his head off the side of the cot, throwing bunny all over and NOT sucking thumb ???

he seems to have ?molars coming through, flaring every 3rd day or so. hes textbook/ spirited doesnt seem to make a big fuss of teething unless gums are bright red and v swollen

What do you think ladies???
J is 11 months old. We've been doing short AM, long PM since 6.5months.
Until recently our day was:
(times in brackets are when I put him in bed). Nap 1 is basically a set nap.
W 700
Nap 1 1020-1100
Nap 2 1400-1530
Bed (1910) 1925

Lately I've been cutting him down to 30mins in the AM but this week he's been taking forever to go to sleep at night (he's throwing his lovey over the side. He just LOVES dropping things at the moment so I'm not sure if it's just that, or he's doing it more because of UT (though he still did it for 45mins on a day with only 2 short naps when surely he should have gone to sleep quicker).

The other thing is that this week he has been waking and resettling himself for the long nap rather than sleeping straight through.

Fri
Wake 705
Nap 1 (1025) 1030-1100 (woke him)
Nap 2 (1400) 1410-1455, 1500-1540
Bed (1915) 2000

Sat
W 705
Nap 1 (1020) 1025-1055
Nap 2 (1355) 1400-1440 (just one cry out)-1600 (woke him)
Bed (1930) 2035

I think I need to cut the first nap to 20mins. What do you think? I have tried it (but not more than a couple of days in a row) but he is extra cranky between naps and I'm unsure of what A time to do (I think I did 2hrs30 but got short naps). Or should I try moving the first nap FORWARD a little bit so he's not so OT after only 20mins?

Yes, still 2 naps. Late BT (9 -9:20) and early WU (6-6:20), one short nap and one long one, doesn't matter which one but not running later than 4:30 and the most important thing... STTN

I dun't know if this means the routine is working but dd is only sleeping 9+ hr at nite and 2 hrs day time. She is sleeping a lot less than I want her to, but hey, I don't wake her up in the morning so if she needs to sleep for longer, she can, but no matter what time I put her down, she doesn't sleep more than 10 hrs.

BT at 7:15- WU at 4:54
BT     8:15  WU     5:36
BT     9       WU     6:20

Her A has increased to 5 hrs but with a BT so late, she is still unable to make it till BT with one nap so I have been APOPing her 2nd nap. Also, her long nap is 1.5 max, she wakes up herself.

I don't know if one nap is going to get her sleep more or make her seriously OT.

any thoughts?

sorry, guess I didn't give a very descriptive post...

My concerns are that they are not STTN any more, DD wakes from the 2nd nap crying, DS takes forever to settle to sleep at night, and the 2nd nap is getting progressively shorter.  I can't figure out what to do to make those things better, or which I should tackle first.

Not STTN suggests they need more daytime sleep.  So I need to extend that 2nd nap, right?  The fact that DD wakes from the 2nd nap crying suggests she's OT?  And needs the nap moved earlier?

So this was today:

(last night- DS woke at midnight, DD woke at 5am, both back asleep within ~20 minutes)
Up around 6:30?  At least one of them was up then, I went and got them out of their cribs at 7
nap 1: 9:55-10:45
nap 2: 1:50-2:40 (DD woke up crying, woke up DS)
Bed at 7 (both alseep instantly - v. tired, but we had to be out this afternoon and this was the earliest I could get them into bed).

because they went to sleep so quickly, I predict DS will wake at about 7:45 crying (he always does if he falls alseep instantly)

Jakobsmommy- great news on the improved routine!  When you have a 1230 wake after nap when do you do BT?  Do you get EW if you do Bt at 6:45?

cc-have you tired AP in the am in order to stretch until 11am-sh for a nap?  Sounds like you are close to the 1 nap!

I have been able to stretch my LO to 5 hours now.  Th other day he fell asleep in the car so he had a 8pm BT.  This gave me a 6am wake.  He seems to like 9-10 hours for NT.  If I do any other BT time he is always up at 5am!  It doesn't matter if he does 6-7:30 BT it's always 5am!!!

I have been able to AP him until 6am then he naps at 11-12:30/1:30.  Should I do early BT and wait for the naps to lengthen or do CN and then BT at 8 again??

lulunut - that's exactly my problem too, nap is not long enough to cover dd until BT but early BT means early WU for us. so I opt for another catnap and late BT.

I did try 11ish nap, but it only gave us 1.5 hr nap and she is sleepy by 6. No problem if she can do a 12 hrs nite, but I really cannot recall one single nite that she sleeps a 12 hrs stretch without NW and recently, her longest stretch is 9hr45 but most of the time it is a little bit less than that.

dd does stay very quiet and close her eyes and spend a long time on my breast in the morning BF but as soon as I unlatch her, she'll get up crawling around, so I don't think she can go back to sleep.

Ya!  I can sometimes get him to 6am with AP.  Last night I went for Early BT and he was bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5am!  Now we are going as long as he can until nap.

I think I will go back to CT and late BT.  I just love my Y time at night so 8pm isn't great BT for me!  Especially when I am in bed at 9pm!!

Good luck today!

We're WAY off track for any sort of routine...but the last two days I've gotten two 1 hour naps and a normal BT.  He's only sleeping 10 hours a night and 2 hours DT so I think we'll have to just be happy with that!!  Makes sitter day impossible though, either one long nap and early BT/early WU or 1 hour morning nap and a LATE afternoon nap that he may not take and an early BT anyway.

lulunut, if it were me I'd do a CN if you can and later BT as I hate getting up so early :)

We're a bit all over the place due to sickness as well.  He's been really sleepy when he's been ill so has been taking two good naps a day.  Now he's feeling better he's not sleeping quite as much.  Had to do a one nap day today as we were out this morning and it wasn't a very long one.  Will do 6pm bedtime and hope we have a good night.

Karen, we are the same. Had one year jabs today. So nap 10:35-11:45.
So another early bedtime. I'm contemplating taking him out in the car to nap. But chris is on late shift so that means Lyle will fall asleep in the car as well. Not sure if I'm up for that or not.
Glad the little guy is feeling better.

Thanks Sherry.  Ethan's had it as well.  He was still throwing up yesterday and has the runs today so I'm well and truly fed up with sick kids!
