Hello, thank you for all the hugs and kind words, it really does mean a great deal to me. Okay, we have returned from three days and two nights in hospital. They had him on a feeding tube for twelve hours so that they could get 140ml down him every three hours. He was weighed and had already put on weight - more than he had in the past three weeks! They ran blood test and more blood test and there is absolutely nothing that they can find wrong with him, which is great but also infuriating as we don't know why he is having these feeding problems.
The widwives took over and changed the teat, bottle, formula and feeding position. He is now taking the bottle every three hours and seems to be on the up. They changed him to soya milk (Isomil), I prop him up on pillows and look at him while he feeds and the teat is a NUK. I have to feed him now for the first time since we are home and I am rather nervous. I am also shattered as there were nurses, doctors and midwives coming and going constantly as well as screaming sick children keeping us up. Anyway, I am so thankful to be home but also nervous of things to come.
The doctor has told us to prepare for him maybe doing the fasting thing again, as we haven't found out the cause for his feeding issues. I have made a follow-up appointment for next Wednesday and hopefully he continues to feed well till then. He doesn't appear to have any problems with the cow's milk formula but rather, we think, the taste. The doctor doesn't believe that a child would fast for twelve hours because he doesn't like the taste of the milks so who knows what lies ahead.
Thank you again for all your support and I will keep you posted.
