So my DS is almost 11 months old and has only slept through the night a handful of times (4 nights a few weeks ago, then got sick and stopped)  Now he has decided to toss and turn like crazy and keeps waking himself up because he gets into uncomfortable positions.  I've tried putting him closer to the bottom of the crib but he still ends up sideways at the top all squished and wakes himself up.  He has also started rolling onto his belly while sleeping which he HATES and wakes up.  When he does this it is hard to get him to go back to sleep.  He doesn't crawl, he's a scooter because of the whole belly issue.  He forgets that he can roll back over (or just chooses not to) and decides to just wake up.

So like I said, I don't think there is anything I can do to stop this but I thought I would ask anyway lol The only thing I can think of is to put him to bed without his sleep sac so I'll try that tonight but then I'm pretty sure he'll just end up kicking off his blanket and waking up b/c he's cold.

Any suggestions would be great or words of encouragment that he'll stop on his own soon lol

Thanks :)

My 10mo gets all scrunched up at the top of the crib too.   ::)

I think actually the best thing is to really encourage him to practice his rolling and moving skills when he's awake.  I know you said he can already roll, but he might just need more time to figure it all out.  If many of these skills are new to him, he might be having trouble sleeping because he can't turn his brain off, all he can think about it scooting and crawling and rolling, which is making him OT and restless.  This is all a normal part of development really, and mobility really throws a wrench into sleeping.

He will figure out for himself what position he is more comfortable in for sleeping, but sometimes it takes time.  :)

Thanks for the reply Martina :)

Before I read your message I decided to put him on his belly more durign the day.  I hadn't done it in so long because he had mastered rolling and everytime I put him on his stomach he would roll onto his back.  And when he was on his back and rolled to his stomach, he would just switch back again lol  It is actually quite funny to watch him now.  He's ok at first and then he gets frustrated because he can't go anywhere so he eventually ends up with his chest on the floor, standing on his feet, sways to the side and manages to sit on his bum then he scoots all over the place lol

As for the sleeping, he's still rolling but last night did manage to sleep on his belly for about 20 mins once he rolled.  He cried a little and then fell back asleep.  For his am nap today though, he managed to get his arm stuck inbetween the railings of the crib and was not a happy camper.

Hopefully this all settles down soon.  I go back to work in 2 weeks and was really hoping for some good sleep before then.  Oh well, I guess my boss will just have to deal with a tired and cranky employee lol

I think he will figure it out and things will settle down a bit.  Hopefully sooner rather than later!  :)

We've been getting EWs too a lot lately.  I'll take a look at your thread later if I get a chance.  :)
