baby waking keeping us all up
« on: March 08, 2011, 03:31:57 am »
We are in need of some serious help with my 6 month old breastfed baby.  I worked really hard before going back to work to not create any bad habbits with my little guy.  Before I went back to work at 4 months he was consistently sleeping through the night (6 hours sometimes a little more).  As soon as I went back to work he started waking up all the time.  He goes down at about 6:30 or 7:30.  and he will wake up at 12:00, 1:00, 3:00, 4:00.  He screams so loud that he wakes up both me and my husband. He will also cry for a long time 15+min.  I try and quite him before everyone is awake.  I think my daughter sleeps through it, although I suspect her sleep is distrubted.    I tried to be strong the first week, but I became so exhausted with working and being up all night that I started to lay down in our spare bed with him and when he would cry I would just feed him.   He has been working on teeth.  i've tried soothing him in his crib, that makes him louder, nightligts.

We are now so exhausted I am afriad to drive with the kids for fear I might fall asleep.

Husband has been picking baby up and dropping him off at an in-home daycare.  There he has a morning bottle, nap, and cereal for lunch with a bottle afternoon nap and bottle.  He is pretty active,  He doesn't want to miss out on anything it seems so his naps sometimes are 40 minutes and sometimes are 3 hours.  I follow pretty much the same schedule when I am home with him.

For his naps and night time he is swaddled, one song and given pacifier.  at night nurse if he wants. but not asleep when i lay him down
