help w/EASY for my giant, EBF, 10 week old DS
« on: March 11, 2011, 20:14:04 pm »
hello BW moms!

my second child, DS, is 10 weeks old and weighs almost 15lbs. we do a loose EASY...he always eats upon waking, has A time (anywhere between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, totally depends on his mood as he is very clear when we wants to nap), then sleep.  after a 2 week phase of the dreaded 30-45 minute naps, he is back to napping but for LONG periods of time...i am talking over 2 hours at least 2x a day.  the problem?  sometimes he sleeps past his scheduled day feed so he can go 3.5-4 hours until the next feed.  i have been waking him to eat by 3.5 hours but DH wants me to just let him sleep.

i am wondering what i should do?  i would like him to drop a night feeding (now he is asleep for the night at 6:30/7pm, wakes to eat at 11ish, 2ish, and 5ish) and i feel like he needs to eat more often during the day.  but then i wonder if he is moving to a 4 hour EASY already because he is SO big that he can do it?

so, my dilemna...do i let my sleeping baby nap as long as he wants or do i wake him to eat every 3ish hours?  help!

Hi hun!
Sorry you haven't received a response yet. How are things going? Have you and your husband decided on a solution?

I know Tracy Hogg encourages lo's to wake every 3 hours when they're tiny to ensure they have the calories during the day rather than at night. It's so wonderful that you're getting long naps :) I wouldn't let him sleep longer than 3.5 ...what do you think?

*hugs* Hope you're doing well and resting while he naps!
