When he was breastfed he did great. No issues. That being said, I don't have a ton of milk in my diet. In fact, I NEVER drink milk, I only have cheese and yogurt. He still never slept well. When my milk supply dropped (around 9 months) we switched to formula. We were having the sleep issues and just starting with the skin issues. He never had diarrhea from BM or formula. Again this all was right as the cold weather was starting and solid foods were well on their way so it is so hard to tell what was a result from environmental things or food related things. We switched to cows milk at 12 months and he was fine until 15 months drinking two glasses a day. Suddenly at 15 months, the diarrhea started and we ended up going dairy free for 3 weeks and Thad when we figured the diarrhea only came from actually drinking the milk.

So today is our first dairy free day!!

Hmm, his symptoms are odd TBH. I would have thought he was either intolerant or not  :P Anyway I hope that this dairy free trial shows something up for you x

Well with dd#2 we didnt notice any signs of mpi untill we started mix feeding except we did have excema from birth which was triggered by milk BUT she still has excema on dairy free too iykwim so she would of had it anyway

It could be how sensitive they are like some children can handle hidden dairy that they handle the breast milk with a bit of milk in iykwim

hi...
someone in a post earlier this week (who has an LO with salicylate sensitivity/allergy i think!) mentioned that constantly red, rough cheeks could be a sign of issues with salicylates? but I don't have a clue really!
My DD is not salicylate sensitive/lactose intolerant, but has had a seriously yuk & painful reaction - shocking nappy rash - to a particular brand of processed cheese, because of the additives in it. Maybe that could be your DS' issue?
HTH :)

Thanks Louisa. That makes sense too.

I know the additives are not the issue with the cheese as he eats organic cheese that has nothing in it and I make his yogurt so that's free of additives too. I'm going to google salicylates as I don't know much aput it but constant red rough cheeks sums him up!

Thanks a bunch!!!

Ok the more I read about salicylates, the more the symptoms seem to be exactly like Ethan.
