Stopping cluster feeds after 8 weeks?
« on: March 24, 2011, 12:39:57 pm »
Our baby will be 8 weeks old soon, and she's on a 3 hour EASY routine. I'd like to stop the cluster feeds, as Tracy recommends stopping these at 8 weeks. But I'm a bit lost as to what the E would look like in the evenings. Right now the E looks like this :
7am
10 am
1pm
4pm
6pm
8pm

I've tried dreamfeeds but she's too snoozy. I'll keep trying though.
She still wakes up every 3 hours in the night. A few times she went up to 5 hours, but only 2 or 3 times.

So should the E look like this :
7am
10am
1pm
4pm
7pm
and then wait for her to wake?

I've looked at the Sample EASY Routines from 0 - 13mths+ in the FAQ section, but they all seemed to still use cluster feedings after 8 weeks (and up to 3 or 4 months).

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you BF or FF?  I think you might get more of an answer on one of the eating boards.

For my lo's DS was FF and we never cluster fed.  DD was EBF and she did not stir enough to latch until *I think* 12wo.  I just kept trying until it worked and then it worked a charm.  I did not drop the cluster feeds until she did a DF.

Let me know which you are and we can move you to get a few more eyes :-*

Hello Sarah,

Thanks so much for your answer! I breastfeed.

I will repost on the eating board.
