1 year molars causing earlier nap?
« on: March 25, 2011, 15:41:51 pm »
My 14 mo daughter is getting her two top molars in.  For the last month she had transitioned nicely to one nap a day (from noon to 2 pm) and sleeping pretty well at night (from 7 pm to 6:30 am).
In the last few days, she has not been able to make it to her noon nap.  She has been taking her nap around 9:30/10 and sleeping for two hours.  Then she takes a little catnap in the afternoon around 3 pm for about 20/30 mins.  Last night we did and early bedtime of 6:30, but today she just went down for her nap at 9:15!  Despite the teething, she's still sleeping fairly well at night.  She woke up once last night to eat, but went right back to sleep.
I'm just not sure if this change in her nap schedule is due to her molars?  She's never reacted to teething by being more tired like this in the past.  Has anyone else seen this with teething?  Or should I be looking into a schedule adjustment?
Thanks for your help!

Hi

FWIW, my DS's top 1st yr molars came through a few weeks ago & sent his sleep all over the place. Teething tends to cut back A times hence the getting tired earlier.

I guess you're medicating before BT etc?

Molars can be particularly painful as they are big, blunt teeth which take longer to come through.

If her nights become more of an issue you could try a meds dream feed in the early hours which really helped my DS.  :)
