Well we had a LONG night last night. We're transitiong from co sleeping to crib sleeping and T has been making strides. We're doing Pantleys gentle removal plan for night feeds, PU/PD has never really worked for us, he gets really ramped up and since I'm working full time I just can't take the screaming, and since we're going from cosleeping to crib I think this is a more gentle route.
When he wakes up I try not to feed him or pick him up I just rub his back and maybe give him back his paci. He's actually doing really good with this, if I do pick him up we sit in the chair he has his paci and we sway and I might sing a little and once he gets really relaxed but not all the way asleep I put him back in the crib and I rub his back for a minute or two until he's more relaxed and then I leave him. For the first few wake ups this works and he gets himself back to sleep, but once we get to about 4 am he can't seem to settle into the deep sleep again. So when I take my hands off he stays asleep for 5 minutes but then wakes up. So should I just stay there with my hands on him until he's in a deep sleep or keep picking him up sitting in the chair and putting him back down? I finally gave up after 1h30 min last night and brought him to bed, my alarm was going to go off in less than an hour and knew I needed some sleep.
Any perspective on this would be helpful. Last night was night #8, it's been up and down, but I"m committed to getting him into the crib.
