Finally off bottles but drinking way less milk!
« on: April 04, 2011, 23:37:29 pm »
I finally took the plunge and switched my 18 month old from bottles to sippy cups. It actually went very well and took only a couple of days. But now he is drinking about half the amount of milk. He used to get between 16-20 oz. But he won't 'chug' the milk like he did with the bottles. He sips it. We give it to him over a longer time frame but no luck. Any thoughts??

they dont need as much milk from 1 year ( in the UK around 12oz/350mls is recommended). You can make up the intake with other dairy foods, milk in cereal, etc as they dont need to take it all in drink form

Hey, I agree with PP, at 18m milk is no longer their main source of nutrition, you can easily get milk into him via yoghurts and cheese. Well done on switching :)

Totally agree about other sources of dairy, but we also had the same experience with DS when we switched him and it took a little while but now we have to limit his milk he wants so much of it!  So things might change. ;)
