Hi.  What sort of cry is it?  If it's a mantra cry then leave them for a bit to see if they self soothe back to sleep.  If it's a proper cry though go into them straight away and see if you can shush/pat back to sleep.

I'm not sure what the difference is!!  He's exhausted for sure.  I was in there and would pick him up, sh/pat him, he'd calm down, and the second I put him in his crib he cries.  He's screaming!!!

I have exact same issue!   My LO is 5 weeks and following EASY but can't seem to lay down for naps. Now on 4th pick-up shh/pat... Takes almost 10 just to stop crying!  Each cycle takes so long that it's almost time to eat again.  Then she's so exhausted, she will fall asleep nursing!

He finally JUST stopped crying after an hour of picking him up, patting and sh-ing.  It's time to eat though in another 20 min :(

Do you swaddle your LO? Some babies need to be swaddled to feel secure but others really don't like it, my LO hasn't been swaddled since leaving the hospital. I would try to calm baby without picking up. Maybe try just putting a hand on them while you sh. Also, do you have any type of white noise playing? I found this helps them to go from one sleep cycle to the next. As far as time to eat if your LO doesn't wake to eat, I would wait to feed until she does wake up. It sounds like your LO is OT so I wouldn't disturb once they do fall asleep.

Your LO is still very young at 7 weeks, so he needs your help when he wakes - don't leave him to cry!

You probably won't start getting mantra cries until he's older.

If he wakes soon after he goes down, try shh/pat, but if that fails it could be wind causing discomfort so it's probably best to pick him up and see if you can get it out - either end  ;)

I have noticed that my 5 week old (almost 6  ;D ) needs me to touch him to calm him. He will cry in my arms or out, so I just touch him and shush and pat him. I don't pick him up because he WILL just start up again crying as soon as I put him down.  We have let him cry a bit when it's his Im tired cry..but we stay near him and touch him so he knows we are there.
