We had a similar experience with molars, some days they seemed awful, some no problem at all.

Us too! I think the big problem, especially with 2nd yr molars is that they take so long to come through & a lot of the time there are no obvious teething signs.

Well I think I'm going to stop fighting with him. He seems to have settled into going to bed around 8-8:15 and waking at 6:45-7ish. Although I don't like it, it seems to be working for him and when I try and change it, he does the same thing anyways so no point in wasting my time :P He will take a 1.5-2 hr nap. He is still waking a night but usually just once now. Actually that's not true. He wakes somewhere around midnight and then also at about 5:45 (I bring him into bed with me here.....probably setting myself up for issues). He gets up earlier when he teeth seem to be bugging him.

I am still sitting in his room but it is only taking 5 minutes for him to fall asleep when hes going to bed when he wants to instead of when I was him to (so not 7 lol). I have no idea how I am going to do this in 3 months with 2 kiddos but we are also going on a trip right before baby comes along and that throws everything out the window for us anyways with him.

I hope it will all work out :)

Thanks girls! :-*

I think his sleep totals seem about right with that, Jenn.  About 10.5-11 hrs at night with a 1.5-2 hr nap.  Yes, eventually it will all work out, and a trip is always a good way to throw things off.  Sometimes I look forward to them for just that purpose. ::)

Gah... Everytime I say something positive on here, Ethan changes into a horrible sleeper. He woke at 6:30 yesterday, napped for 1.5 hours and then did not go to sleep until 10 ( yes 10!) and then woke this morning at 5:45. He then napped for 1.25 hrs today and is wide awake in his room right now at 8:10 with no hope of going to sleep anytime soon. Why, why, why??? Is he just trying to torture me?

Oh no, Jenn!  He is working on those molars, right?  That can lead to lots of unpredictability and easily into OT, which it sounds like is probably going on right now.  Just remember that you've been through tough patches like this with him before and gotten out of it.  You'll get it back, but I know it's super frustrating! >:(

Ugh it has to be the molars! I don't think a kid can fluctuate this much without there being something going on. There is absolutely no sign of them actually coming in which makes me think this is going to be a long road. I'm sure they will be in in time for baby #2 to start teething :P It really seems like there is no point changing anything because he is all over the place anyways. I had no clue teething was this bad before I had a child!
