cosleeper moving out
« on: May 05, 2011, 13:22:53 pm »
i put my 18 wo down for a nap in his new bed in his bedroom. He slept for 40mins then spent an hour trying to sleep. I think its too light will he adjust to this? I would preffr not to change as its ds1s bedroom  and playroom and he likes his curtains. Any advice? On managing the move? Xx

He may adjust to the new light situation but it might take a while. If he is having difficulty, could you perhaps invest in a cot canopy like this so it is dark for your LO and light for your DS1?

Or would he go for a baby nap cap?

Was he sleeping in your bed before or did he just have his own bed in your room? If in your bed it might also be that he needs time to adjust to being in his own bed.

thanks! Cot canapy looks great, but expensive! Yes it is a new bed too, he's sleeping in a basket next to me, but i'd like to move him out when he sleeps better at night. I need to move him to the new bed soon anyway as he's outgrowing the basket. Thought i'd try 1nap a day in ds1s room to aclimatise but i really think the lights a problem. Mmm. Thanks for your suggestions! Xx

OK, well a move from basket to cot shouldn't be as big an issue as a move from your bed (with you) to cot.
Good luck. Yest the cot canopy is expensive. Not sure if yo know anyone crafty who could knock one up for you...that would be nice eh?

Oh yes if you are happy to black out the whole room for the nap then a portable blind of some sort could work well. Good luck with that.

dont think i can do it longterm, unless its super easy to put up and take down, as ds1 plays there (but i suppose he wont when babys asleep!) would just try it and see if it helps xx
