Can a baby be too old for sh-pat?
« on: May 05, 2011, 13:23:15 pm »
Tracy believed some babies started to dislike shush pat as they got older, especially after 6 months of age. Some babies tend to find the actual shush sound annoying and it can interupt sleep. This is only SOME babies, some continue to be fine  with shush pat. If your baby appears to dislike shush pat or the shush, maybe try no shush, some rubs etc etc. Experiment and find something that is soothing and reassuring to your baby.

You always try shush pat, or your soothing form before pu/pd and use with pu/pd regardless of age. You need not quit unless it stops working and even then, you want to experiment and find an alternate soothing form.
