He is taking 8oz every feed. He had started to take this every 3 hrs again now and despite giving a DF at 11am he still woke at 3am taking 8oz both times and going straight back to sleep. I really do think he is hungry otherwise he would cry when I left him surely?

I think you are right.  it really does sound like a growth spurt if he is taking that much!  I remember when my LO when through this growth spurt, then I was so concerned when he slowed down a few weeks later and wasn't eating as much!  it is amazing  these little grown spurts.  hopefully soon after this one, he will sleep well at night for you!

I am sure he went through his GS last week as he was waking 3 times a night taking that amount... now its just once. Do I just carry on getting up and feeding? As I say, he takes it and then goes straight back down.

just go with it hun...

the only thing that would make them otherwise get their calories at night would be reflux related.
