Hi, I am new to this forum, I have a 7 week old and we have been doing pat/shhh since saturday. It has helped a lot for his nightime sleep, but daytime naps are a nightmare. He is a touchy baby, and is pretty restless to sleep, it takes him anywhere from 20 to 40 min to get into deep sleep, because he keeps moving, or waking up, or dropping the paci and searching for it. Once he is finally asleep, he will nap for 30 min or so and then goes into light sleep and any little noise wakes him up. I have tried going back into his room and patting/shh back to sleep but it hardly seems worth the fight to get him back to sleep for only a short period of time. The only way to get him to nap for long times is in the swing (I know tracy hated it, but sometimes I have to use it in order to get something done), or in the stroller when we go for our morning walk.
We don't have a really firm routine yet, we just have been doing EASY as best as we can, but with the short naps sometimes its a challenge.
His room is as dark as I can get it, and I have a white noise machine that I am using at the maximum sound setting. I try to keep the house as quiet as possible, which is difficult because his room is close to the kitchen. Any advice???
