We use nuts in trail mix, I just chop/smash them up so they are small. I use raisins, dried cranberries, chopped dates, chopped prunes, chopped nuts (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts), sesame seed pretzels, a very few chocolate chips (keeps DS excited to find them!), some cereal (cheerio style cereals), sunflower seeds (out of shell) and coconut flakes. I just grab small handfuls of whatever of these are in the cupboard, toss them all into a bowl with a lid, give it a shake and it's done!
