I really need help again!
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:07:50 am »
Hello again, its been a little while things have been great, alyssas 6 months and a week or two, thriving on neocate absolute brillient

We started weaning a few days ago.. first two days she had a few spoon full of baby rice (made with neocate, and 100% organic certified gluten free pure baby rice)
yesterday she ate loads...

she has been a bit unsettled the last few days we thought maybe she was starting to teeth... and has had a bit of excema (we thought she might of laid in some sick... she refluxes all through the night often not even waking so will end up laid in it if we are alseep) this morning iver changed her and theres huge strings of mucus... it liturally looked like someone had blown there nose in her nappy

the only thing it could be is the baby rice... I don't know what to do! i mean obviously i cant give her the baby rice but is it likely shes intollerent to rice too? could it be something else causing her to react to everything... what else can i give her instead?

Im actually crying right now, because i feel so gutted i thought we were going to be going good, weaning gluten, dairy, soy, egg free while maining low sals
but now baby rice, does that mean all grains are out?

she loved her baby rice so she is ready to wean... i see the dietion next week (thankfully) and i need to phone for a pead apt

the dietion was sure she would handle rice

Oh sorry to hear Louisa, the rice definantly has no rosemary or herbal antioxident ?   Is the only ingredient rice?

The good news is that it is not uncommon for reflux babies and food intolerance babies to have a hard time with the grains.  Grains ARE really hard to digest, and due to the meds the refluxers have slower guts. Maybe start with the veges instead. She might do brilliantly on the choko or potato instead, and then slowly build up the quantities of rice.

yep i actually just went and double checked the box 100% pure rice flakes. its organix rice which there main selling point is 100% no junk  just plain rice

I'll give her a few days for the poo to die back down a touch and try her with some maris pipers

i'm glad grains can be hard to digest

thank you for your reply, i really got myself into a bit of a state i know its stupid lol but we have had a good few months and it was like it came crashing down

We don't do well on grains here either!

Potatoes can also be a bit much to handle for a sensitive LO (as are tomatoes), perhaps sweet potato or butternut squash would be easier on her tummy?

DS is fine on apple, carrot and a range of other fruit & veg too. I still don't give him much at all in the way of grains.

Hope you get on ok with the fruit & veg  :)

Not sure about the mucous hun but rice is often not the best thing to start them on! It caused Olly some constipation so we steered clear of it

Pear often cooks down so soft it can be mushed to a fine purée
