Can lactose intolerance affect teething??
« on: May 18, 2011, 17:58:15 pm »
Hello!! My 10 month niece was diagnosed lactose and soy intolerant at 4month old. My sister had to stop BF and start a very special and expensive formula.
My sister is very worried because her lo has absolutely no signs of teething and she is over 10 month old! She can't even see the white gums.
Should she be worried? They live in Brazil and the doctor never prescribed calcium to the baby. Could that be affecting teething?

TIA

Marie

This should not affect teething. I assume there is calcium already in the formula? Do you know what formula it is?

Some kids do take their time teething, while others are insanely early. My mother swears I was cutting teeth at 2 months, my DD2 at 4 months, and DD1 at 7. Big span.

The name of the formula is Alfare from Nestle.
It does have calcium, I guess should be a good amount of it considering is dairy free....

Let's hope those teeth come soon so my sis stop worrying :)

Thanks!

I wouldn't have thought intolerances would effect teething. My friend's LO only just got his first tooth and he is 15 months!
