Sorry for all the info!!!  ::)

Its just really hard to explain as he wakes so much and his sleep times are sort of random!  :'(

But he seems to nap really well at 12, I have just been putting him in the cot and coming downstairs and he goes to sleep!!!  ;D

But bedtime is getting later and later again, I really dont want it to back to 12 or so again!

I was thinking maybe he is low sleep needs  ??? And only needs an hour nap? And then 11 at night?

At first he was sleeping 13 hours but maybe he was just catching up? And now he just needs 12?

I am sorry to say it again but Thank you so much for helping me  :-* I know it sounds silly but its really changing our family life! Were still not perfect but I feel so much more positive, like one day he will STTN!!!  ;D

Can I just say, that looking at your routines just now, even though nights are a bit short and there are NWings, it is so wonderful to see some consistency!  That is definitely a sure sign that you are on the right track!

Is he happy when he's awake?

With bedtime, is he resisting and just not falling asleep until later?  I think I would cut the nap to 1.5hrs and see what happens.

Hello Martina,

Yes!  ;D We are finally getting some consistency!  ;D :o And it only took 2 years!  ;D

no his not resisting bedtime, I am just putting him into the cot and walking out but then he plays for around 40 mins in there! But its only been the last few days when he would fall asleep alone so maybe its just a teething thing and when he gets used to it he will fall asleep quicker? Before we would sit with him for usually at least 40 mins. But sometimes it would be 2 hours  ::)

Also some great news! He is falling asleep with a bottle that is in the shape of a zippy cup! It still has a silicone teat but its in the spout shape. And tonight he only has water in there!  ;D So we are making big improvements. If he will sleep with just water in there then I dont have to worry about weaning him off for a while. As he is so excepting I am going to try and wean of the bottle in the next few weeks. Prob only keeping 1 bottle after dinner, as I put his meds in there and I want to make so he drinks it all!

But all in all we are making big improvements  ;D ;D

Sorry may I ask how to reduce the nap? 10 minutes at a time or just wake him up after 1.5 hours and have a bad afternoon? I am so scared of OT after last time!  ::)

Also when would I make his bedtime?

For us the ideal would be 7.30 - 6.30. Then he could see his papa in the morning and night. But he seems to love going to bed late!  ::)

Is it possible to gently push his bedtime earlier?

Thanks!

I was going to say the opposite to Martina :P  I was actually going to suggest a 7 - 7.30pm bedtime.  I suspect with all the NWs he maybe OT at bedtime - also a bit like you guys his little bodyclock is also a bit out of whack so if you get him down that bit earlier hopefully he'll at least settle earlier.  perhaps try that for a few nights and failing that cut the nap ?  Just a suggestion though!

I would love a 7 / 7.30 bedtime!!  ;D But he wont sleep early? I think I need to work on a bedtime routine now as he is awake in his cot for a long time!

So last night I put him into the cot at 7.50 he was still awake at 9 and DP got him up again  ::) :'( He was running around the house like crazy then at 10 he went back to sleep in bed with DP.

But he only woke up once!!!! And only drank around 2oz of milk!  ;D

Yesterday

A, 7.45

N, 12 - 2

S, 10 - 7

NW,

1.30
(30 mins)

ok sorry, more silly questions  ??? ::)

If I want to put him down at 7.30 would I start his bed time routine at 7?

And what can I do to calm him down? He hates the bath!  ::)

Thanks!

Then don't do the bath before bed - that may not be helping.  Perhaps you could do bath in the morning?  I would just try getting him in bed for 7.30pm and see what happens.  I really think now he is napping better that you need to just bite the bullet with the early bed and see what happens.  I would start routine at 7pm yes and have him in bed for 7.20pm to be asleep for 7.30pm (think POSITIVE ;) )

I reckon that he'll be calmer with the earlier bedtime cos he won't have got his "second wind" by then (well we'll hope anyway!)

 :P :P That was hard work!!!!  ::)

So at 6.00 he was already completely breaking down  :'( He was on the floor crying and then he went and laid on the spare mattress.

So we started at 7.00 in our bed (our bed is in his room). Me and DP read stories and he drank his milk. Then he wanted to escape! He wanted to go play so I put him in the cot. After lots of screaming and shusshing!! He finally fell to sleep at 8.20  ::) With Papa on the floor next to the crib singing to him.

But thats not to bad, last night it was 10!

So tomorrow night Christian (DP) will stay in the room with him and lay on the floor and sing until he falls asleep. Hopefully then after a few days he will start sleeping quicker and quicker  ??? I hope so anyway!

Then when he is sleeping every night at the same time we will do GW. It has worked at naptime but I dont think he is ready to fall asleep alone at bed time yet. He is a champion at fighting sleep!   :'(

Thanks again,  :-*

I think on this basis I would go for a tad earlier tomorrow if you can, I know ideally you want that marginally later bedtime but this probably was the time he needed to go to bed :-\

((((hugs)))) you are doing a grand job and 8.20pm is *so* much better than 10pm!

Thank you  ;D

Yes we are getting there!  :)

I will try a little earlier tomorrow. 7.30 would be perfect for us, but if he sleep 6 - 5 we can deal with it! We just have to go to bed earlier then, but thats no problem. If he sleeps then we will all be happier!

After almost 2 years of this we are totally exhausted now. His never been a sleeper but that was for medical reasons. Now he is better he can sleep. I just have to keep telling myself one day he will sleep!  ::) One day!  ;D

 ;D :-* ;D

but if he sleep 6 - 5
I don't think it would stay here, I just mean while he's so OT, I would keep nap at the same time as it's working.

Hope you get a good night :)
