Don't panic.

Yes I would suggest OT, take it as a bonus he's awake now before you've gone to bed (that's what I try and tell myself!)  hopefully he'll settle quickly and that'll be it, remember he's not used to going to sleep so early so it'll take him a bit of time to adjust.

((((hugs)))) and a large glass of wine :-*

Ok so were taking 10 steps back  ::)

He won't sleep! Yesterday at nap time he screamed for 1.5 hours. And fell to sleep with me at 1.20.

Last night he went to bed at 9.10 and woke up at 3 for 1.5 hours. Then got up for the day at 6.40.

It's now 12.33, i brought him up here at 11.30 and he just won't sleep. Just plays / screams / play / screams.

Will he ever sleep ??? :P

My patience is really worn too. I just struggle to believe that a 2 year old can not sttn. Its been 2 years of this now. Ok it's tunnes better than it was but still I am just so exhausted. Its got to the point were for months now I have just been sat home in my pjs crying. I ANSI frustrated with it. It feels like were just spending our days trying to get him to sleep. I am trying to think what I am doing so wrong?? Why is he still like this?

 :'( :'(

Please tell me one day he will sleep  ::) ;)

I get it!  I'm at this point and DS is nearly 3 ::)

Hun I think it's really really hard to get any sort of consistent "normal" when you have a bub who has been through so much.  You need to find a way to help yourself (and yes easier said than done) I expect at some point you will accept what will be will be.  This is what I have to try and do myself.  I still get to the point of breaking but it's much less than it used to be.

I would say in hindsight that the nap refusal was from having such a good night, you are also in the time of having a "blip" after a few better days.  I would try and disregard yesterday and last night - is he asleep yet?

No his not. I have just put him in the cot and walked out. I don't want to do cc. But he is screaming the whole day. So I am at the point when I think if he is screaming with me in the room because he is angry but goes to sleep on time. Its better than everyone been so sleep deprived??

I don't know anymore!!  :P

I have actually been thinking about leaving dp so at least I get a break on the weekend  ::)

Just wish he would sleep so we could all be happy again. We will get there and the world will be a better place again  ;)

Thank you for been so understanding  :-*

So it took about 2 mins of screaming and now he is asleep. We are at the docs at 2.40 so I will wake him at 2.20

I sure he will be happy about that!! ::)

I would do bed at 6.30pm tonight then.

If he sleeps well then definitely go for a later nap tomorrow - if not perhaps try noon again.  I'm not sure I would try the nap before noon though.

((((hugs)))) Have you tried wiwo with him when he's screaming like that?

(((hugs)))

What gets me through those regressions is remembering that they always happen but that we always get through it again and usually things are better after.  I know it's little consolation, but sometimes it's all we've got!

Agree with Laura on the 6:30 wakeup, and I would consider wiwo as well.

Hello  ;D

Just read the thread again and 3?? Thats so tough, hugs for you  :-*

So I have had a long walk! And a think and I think I am a little calmer. Its just very frustrating when he is screaming because he is tired but wont sleep!

I am really wondering if he is low sleep needs? I was talking to DS about when he slept better and he was sleeping 10.5 / 11 hours at night and around 1 - 1.15 during the day. When I look back over the last few weeks he seems to sleep only 8 / 9 hours in 24 hours then the next few days 12 or 13. One day even nearly 14. So I am thinking around 12.5 in total to even it out a little. 11 at night and 1.5 in the day max and see how he is.

Tonight he went to bed at 9 even though I woke him up at 2.20, so only 35 mins nap after and 8 hour night. He was very angry for around the first hour (he hates dr's anyway!). But then the rest of the afternoon he was very happy, playing and content. He didn't even have 1 meltdown, even at 6 when he usually does.

We tried to put him to bed earlier, but he was just wide awake jumping around the place and after an hour we gave up and let him play. Then at 8.45 he came up to me and was very snuggly, DP took him to bed and he was asleep in 5 minutes.

Ummm I am stuck!  ::) I always thought I would be so good at the routine!!! I was so wrong!  ;D ;)

Thanks for sticking with me!

Totally agree with this.

A grand day total of 13.45!!!!
I think if he's having a bad nap and bad night after a good sleep day like this then it's because needs less sleep than this overall IYKWIM...

I think he sounds low sleep needs and would do better on a nap around 1 - 1.5hrs in length to get a longer night...
