HELP! I have a 6.5 week old who is a pretty happy baby and a good sleeper, for the most part.  Our bedtime routine starts at 8:45, we read books, have quiet/cuddle time, then eat at about 9:30. Last night, she ate at 9:30pm and didn't wake up until 2:30am! Then, it all started...she finished eating and I burped her and she was back in crib by 3:30 (she is a slower eater) and by 4 am, she was crying! She typically does ok if she wakes up every 3 hours, example: goes to bed at 930, up at 1230 and will fall back to sleep until 330...it's that 230 or 330 feeding that she usually doesn't like to fall back to sleep for and stay asleep. I should clarify, she will fall asleep while eating/burping, but wakes up no longer than 1 hour after i put her back in crib...help, what do we do!?

In addition, she will sleep for 5+ hours even after being awake (like today) in our bed! I don't want to do this because I worry about SIDS (we have an AngelCare monitor in her crib).  any advice/help would be very much appreciated!

I am having a similar problem with my DS, and I think I've figured out that he's not getting enough A during the day, so he's actually taking 45-minute "naps" after his night feed, which means he's exhausted by the time day rolls around, so he wants to sleep all day and the cycle gets worse and worse.  Would you post your routine?  People may have suggestions if they see your day.

Our routine is different from day to day just depending on when DS gets up in the morning. Monday morning, she slept until 8! So no day is different. I do a night time routine though, start at 845: read, cuddle time, sing songs, quiet time and feed. She does really well until about 230-330 whenever she wakes up.,..last night it was 230, usually it's 330am. I try and keep her up during the day as much as I can, but don't want her to be OT. Like today, she slept from 130-450! Going to try and keep her up until 845 bedtime routine.

How's it going? One thing that really helps is to try to establish a daily routine, even if its relaxed here at the beginning.  Try to start your day around the same time every day (within a half hour), feed every three hours, bedtime around 12 hours after wake-up, etc.

You are keeping baby awake much too long for her age... she should only be having A times around 1 hr to 1 hr 15 minutes.

It really sounds like a mix of overtired baby and some day/night confusion.  I found that the day/night confusion peaked around 6-8 weeks... before that they just sleep/eat all day/night.

Here is a link to some typical EASY routines for her age -
