So I know I am a little bit ahead of myself  :P
But DD will be one at the end of August and I would so love if she was on one nap by then!
We are going away on a big holiday and it would just suit us if she was taking a long lunch time nap!
Anyone just decided at about 11 months to do it cold turkey and ride it out for a month of so????

ETA we also have horrendous EW's 4.45am, 4.10am this morning!!!

I tried Amy and it lasted about a day, lol!  Lewis is only just about ready for one nap now!  The problem I found was that he just got OT and woke earlier than usually so there was no way I could one nap on those days.  Occasionally was fine.  Some kids can do it at that age though so I wouldn't rule it out.

We went cold turkey to 1 nap at 12 months but she was showing signs.  She could easily manage 4-4.5 hours A time and bedtime was getting silly and late because she needed so much A time after the second nap.  We'd a dreadful time dropping the CN and loads of faffing around with A times etc and I swore next time she was showing signs of needing a change I was just going for it.  It was much easier.  It took the nap a while to lengthen out so for first 3/4 weeks we APed a CN every 4/5 days to keep OT at bay and had later bedtime and then after a few weeks naps moved from 1.5 hours to 2.5-3 hours and that was us. It does depend on the LO though so if she's not managing longer A times without melting down and becoming very OT she's probably not going to be able to manage it.

Depends on a lot of things I think!  You do have to take into consideration her personality and needs.  I mean, if she's not ready, then she's not ready!

That said, we made the jump to 1 nap at 11mos with no problems and minimal OT.  But I just knew DS2 could do it, he was already doing a short am/long pm for months and handled a really long am A time no problem.  So I knew.  I wouldn't have pushed him if I didn't think he could.

did it with both of mine no problems but started around 10 mths and was done and dusted by 11.

We did short am in the buggy, getting shorter and shorter to literally 40 winks....and then the delicious 3 hr nap from 12-3 ahh!!! Bliss!!!

Emma is spirited/angel with low sleep needs and found the transition very easy just as she did the nap to no nap at just over 2!!!! Oscar found it tougher, but he is on the touchy side and never learned how to tag on sleep when needed without a CN to tie him over. In saying that, he was the one who successfully did the 3 hr naps for a LOOONG time - just also was the one with much shorter nights from around 2 yrs as well :-(((

HTH and good luck! Can't believe little Cassie is on the 2:1 already! Time flies xxx

I am curious about this myself. DS is 11mo in less than 2 weeks and we are struggling to get the afternoon nap. I can never tell if the problem is OT or UT, but it takes forever if it happens and often he just seems to skip it altogether. But we have EWs and lots of NWs (always have and still there in spite of moving towards more independent sleep) so I worry about the nights getting worse.
