When to trial dairy for MSPI lo?
« on: June 12, 2011, 14:44:40 pm »
DD is 8 months old and I'm wondering when I should trial dairy.  She has reflux which is under control with medication and is on Neocate.  About a month and a half ago I tried half Neocate and half Nutramigen and her reflux flared.  So I'm wondering what I should use to do a dairy trial.  Cheese?  Yogurt?  and when should I try it?  Any suggestions?

You can try her on yoghurt at 9 months - just a small spoonful at first.

Make sure she isn't teething or unwell at the same time though!

I'm not trialing DS until 12 months as he has a severe reaction to milk protein - instant hives, vomiting, then eczema and reflux flares  :(

Hi, If she reacted to a small about of Nutrmaigen 6 weeks ago I wold def wait till at least 2 months to try direct dairy. She must be very senitive to milk proteins to react to Nutramigen. Just MHO though xx

I was thinking that too.  The funny thing was she was ok on Nutramigen for 6 months.  I guess the total absence of the milk protein has healed her gut so much that even the broken down Nutramigen was too much.  When I do the trial would a teaspoon of yogurt as pp suggested be the best course?  I wasn't sure whether the Cheese or yogurt has less of the milk protein in it.

Yoghurt has the least protein and it's partially broken down, so it's the best trial food  :)

Great.  I'll try that when the time comes.
