Really quick question to all of you
« on: June 17, 2011, 08:54:58 am »
Hi there,

Really quick one: when LO is poorly (cold, snotty), is the idea you let them sleep as much as they want in the day? Or is it still best to cap naps? We are in the midst of 2-1 transition and usually try to do 3hr A then 45min nap, 3hr A then 1.5hr nap and then 4hr A to bed.

Also had a bad night's sleep (barely 10hrs).

He is 9.5mths.

Thank you!

Its up to you hon. Personally I let them sleep if they are ill but still no longer than 2.5 hours for naps.

I think it depends on your baby.  I could let my older one sleep as long as he needed during the day and it never seemed to affect his nights much.  Everything affects my little ones night sleeps!

I definitely let my DS sleep more when ill. I would perhaps aim for shorter A times before the naps if you can though so it doesn't just make the day longer.
Do you normally wake him from naps? If not and he is just trying to sleep longer I would let him as that seems to suggest he needs more sleep right now.
