almost 11 months....
« on: June 24, 2011, 13:06:28 pm »
My youngest is almost 11 months, next week ;-)
Right now he is taking a 6-8 oz bottle when he wakes in the morning, after waking from both naps and shortly before bed.
The last few days he's been not taking them well, spreading them out thru his awake time and often finishing just before his naps......
do I need to change his feeding routine? Is it about right and he is just having a couple "off" days?
What do you think?

At this age we were on 2 bottles a day, amybe 3 but certainly heading towards only 2.

 Have you tried dropping one?

Bottle fed babies will usually drop to 3 bottles around 9/10 months so it sounds like he is telling you it's time to change! You can drop either the morning or afternoon bottle and offer a snack instead if he needs one. My DD had a 3 bottle routine from 8.5 months and had 1 bottle on waking, one just before her afternoon nap and the third at bedtime. If she needed it she had a snack sometime between breakfast and lunch!

I would try not to let him drink milk all through his A time, a bottle feed should be done with in about 20 mins and it needs to be discarded by 1 hour after it has been started because of bacteria from his mouth. It's also not good for their teeth!

HTH!
