oh dear, that sounds terrible poor K. i would leave things for now let him get back to himself. A step in between would be a good idea.

A is teething, ive just noticed two at the bottom coming through. no wonder he was so upset last night.

Sorry I have been MIA! C has cut one of her molars, :o have also been having awful nights and no wonder now I know why, bless her. She is falling asleep on her own though, except for tonight we were out and she was late in bed and majorly OT so I had to rub her back a little and eventually PU for a bit. But all is quiet for now.

Babyrose - have a great holiday and I hope A sleeps well for you. If it all goes wrong when you are away at least you know you have come this far and you can get back on track again. All that fun on the beach and in the pool will no doubt exhaust him in to sleeping well. Have a brilliant time and let us know how it went when you get back.

Angela - aww poor little K, hope he is soon feeling better. Totally agree that until he is 100% again you can't sleep train. Once he is better you can think about your next step though. Do you know what type of toddler he is? Have you done the quiz? C is spirited and it soon became apparent that my being in the room was far more of a distraction to her than a help! So I WO and amazingly she has never looked back (well except for a couple of blips!). We had no crying or anything, I was and still am totally amazed at how well she did. You could maybe try this if he is playing and messing around when you stay, as that is exactly what C used to do. This is what I did...

Step 1 - held to sleep and put down as soon as she was asleep.
Step 2 - held until really very drowsy and put down, but rubbed her back or kept a hand on her until asleep.
Step 3 - put down when sleepy but still quite awake (this is when she would get up and play in the cot) SO one night I tried...
Step 4 - put down when sleepy but awake and WO and she fell asleep on her own!!! HTHs.

so last night was pretty good, with a 10 min wake up at 12.15 am and 20 min wake up at 5.45am. He woke up for the day at 8 am. so had 11 hrs of sleep which is very decent. guess the meds are doing their work.  :)

babyrose hve an awesumm holiday do let us know how it went when you were away from home :). seems like they are all teething at the same time.  :(

bex09 thanku for such a detailed response, hope C sleeps better tonight, teething causes such havoc.
@ the quiz, i think thats a gr88 idea, i have not done the quiz, but i think hes spirited as well, is there some place I could take the quiz on the forum?? Could you point me in the right direction?? I did a search, but that seems to have disabled :( for some reason. I would try to do the steps you outlined after he gets better.. After reading yours and babyrose responses I think I need to introduce a step in between to get him going.. Cant wait to get started :)

Angela - sorry I forgot you asked me for this! Here is the link...  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=52284.0
Once you have taken the quiz let me know what type of toddler you have, as it can make a real difference to how you approach sleep training. Am also going to post a link to my thread about GW. Sian gave me fantastic help over the past couple of days to get back on track. I messed up and went back to holding to sleep due to failed reflux meds wean and cutting two molars all at once! As you can imagine C's pain was just awful and she needed me so back to square one we went. Anyway, Sian's advice was wonderful, especially about the standing in the cot and messing around which I know you also struggle with. Take a read if you want, it may help... http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=215665.0

Babyrose - how are you hun? Hope A is being good for you and giving you lots of rest and much needed cuddles.

Aww hunnie you are bound to be in shock with such awful news, I take it that it was not expected and your Mum wasn't ill? I can't begin to imagine, just take time and look after yourself, all you can do I guess. Poor A being ill too, hope he feels better soon. Great that you are still making progress under the circumstances.

yes C has cut her 2 top first year molars, but she doesn't have all of her other teeth yet! She has done all her teething in a really funny order though. I think molars usually cut before cannines don't they? I know C has got a gap between her four front teeth and her molars, I assume where the cannines will go. Either way I don't think cutting any teeth is very nice for LOs, it totally messes C's sleep up.

we didnt expect her to pass away,  she was an alcoholic and been in hospital a couple of times. we r all staying with my dad t the moment. it just seems easier. my mum and dad are divorced and have been for a long time.

im not sure what order they come through in, maybe its best if the bad ones comes through first get them over with. A is the same with his sleeping and teething

babyrose, sending hugs n blessings ur way to get thru this difficult time. hope A STTN for you and gets better soon :).

bexo09, thanks for the link..i did take the quiz, Kiyaan is a "textbook" baby according to the quiz..but I dont feel that way..I feel hes touchy at times, spirited at times and sometimes textbook.
right now..still on step 2 of GW..put him down almost asleep like 90% asleep..he wriggles around in the cot..i thump the mattress, somtimes massage his legs or pat him and that settles him usually
within 10 mins..so going ok so far..i m really scared of puttin him down drowsy but awake...hush hope he does well when he finally gets thru to that stage.

Hi hun just wondering how you are? Hope you are enjoying spending some time with your Dad. thinking of you.

Angela - It is highly likely that your DS is a mixture of the different types but with a textbook basis sleep training should not be as rough as it can be with other types. It is never going to be easy though! Have you read my thread? C gave up on the standing in her cot after 2 days because I just ignored it, she hasn't done it since. Have a read... I think it will really help your situation too.

bex09 , i did read your post abt C's sleep training and was impressed the way you handle it. I am just hving cold feet abt training Kiyaan , also need to tackle his bottle during the night. But hes getting better i feel, last to last night, he slept from 9.20 - 5.45 and then slept a bit more for the next hour cos i was constantly patting him..last night he slept from 9.20 - 6.45 with a NW at 3.15 - drink milk and asleep within 15 mins, also never picked him up during this time , just patted in bed and he accepted it.  :)  I was trying to get him to bed since 8.20 last night but he just was too hyper and wanted to play and play..anywas finally got him down by 9.20. I m sure once he starts sleeping a bit earlier..(targetting betwn 8 - 8.30 to fall asleep), he would automatically sleep more during the night. I m hoping this automatically eliminates the NW, which would mean that I dont need to face the battle of weaning him off the bottle in the middle of the night.. I know I am being such a chicken.. :-[. So my theory is if by the time I succed in step 3, which is putting him to bed sleepy but awake, hes still having NWs, then I would attack the bottle issue , but if hes not then just continue with the sleep training..hope this makes sense to u..i m still on step 2 and its going good..but either tonight or from tommorrow i will start step 3..fingers crossed.

babyrose...thoughts and prayers with u for the funeral. xoxo
