Grizzling Bottle Fed Baby
« on: July 05, 2011, 17:26:42 pm »
My little boy is 6 weeks today and I am worried I am overfeeding him.
I am expressing and giving him formula - each feed is about 120-130ml and I feed him at the following times - 4am, 7.30am, 10.30am, 1.30pm, 4.30pm, 7.30pm and dreamfeed at 10.30pm.
He drinks it really fast and then grizzles when I take it away to wind him. He is then whinning all day as if he is hungry.
Can you help advise if I should be changing the volume and any suggestions on why he might be unhappy/whinning.

Is he draining those bottles? If he is, the general advice is to add more to the bottle. There should be a bit left at the end of a feed so you know they have stopped because they are full and not just because the bottle was empty.

Which bottles are you using and what flow teat is he on? If your bottles have a variflow it may be worth trying those as he will be able to control the flow better himself.
