Help! Can't decide what to do!
« on: July 12, 2011, 07:56:54 am »
DS slept 12 hours!  His best night sleep ever!  I am unsure what to do today though.  Yesterday he had his pm nap a little closer to bed time which I will do again today.  Also though, yesterday he woke at 6am and had a 4hr A til his nap at 10 (I have been doing set nap time at 10) and he had a 2hr nap (very rare these days).  However I can't replicate that today as he woke at 7am and that would mean his nap would be at 11.  His childminder does a school run at 12 so he can't sleep then!  If I stick to the 10am nap that will only be 3hr A time and I'm not sure that will be enough.
Yesterdays EASY:

A-6am
S - 10am
A - 12 pm
S - 3.30 pm
A - 4 pm  (we always have 30 min nap here)
S - 7pm

So I've no idea how to play today so I get another full nights sleep!  He usually has lots of NW's but last night he cried out at 4.45 and 5.15 but put himself straight back to sleep til 7am.  This never happens!  But yesterday was a 13 hr day and 12 hr night so I am confused!

What would you do?

We get these every now and then and it is usually DS just catching up, or about to teethe badly. When I have a shorter day I just try to fit it in by giving DS two restorative but slightly shorter naps. Not sure if it is the right thing to do but it works for us. Good luck replicating the night x

Thanks, it didn't happen.  Easy went massively, massively wrong yesterday and we had the usual 4, 5 and 6 am wakings.  I've had enough to be honest.  No matter what I do it makes no difference to his waking at 4 and 5am.  I can't figure out where I'm going wrong and I can't get the routine right to fit in with his childminder and even if I do manage something it makes no difference anyway.  I'll just have to accept I'm gonna be exhausted forever.

How old is your LO again? We started having 4, 5 AM NW for a while, LOs go into a light sleep around this time and are easily woken.
Maybe this thread will help? http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=87109.0
For us it was just about keeping it very quiet and making sure Z knew it was still night time. I never started the day earlier than 5.30-6am no matter how early he wanted to wake.

At these wakings is your LO happy and wanting to get up, or obviously tired and crying? - Easy or difficult to get back to sleep? (HUGS) x

Sometimes he settles himself back down, sometimes crying, sometimes happy!  I never start the day before 6am.  We can often get him back to sleep but I am just exhausted with it all.  With the wakings and the constant stressing, thinking of his routine, trying to make changes, getting obsessed with sleep!  And its all for nothing as he has been doing it for months.

If it helps we had a lot of EW very EW between 4-6 months, we still get some, but nothing likewe did, so I do thik to some extent they outgrow it as long as we keep encouraging them to sleep later and helping them with their A and S times xx

Forgot to say he is 9 months!  When he is at his childminders he struggles to do 3hrs for his middle A time!  At home it is 3hr30.  Oh well think I will have to give up for a while.  Its all too confusing.
